CLP Label Information
We offer the option to purchase a CLP compliant product label, containing all mandatory information as required by the EU CLP Regulation. This will be provided as a PDF. This is not a design, but a summery of the required information. This will enable you to integrate the necessary information into your product label design. You can also order the CLP label creation separately. Already have a label? — We can do a CLP label compliance check of your label in accordance with current CLP requirements. We will provide detailed feedback and corrections to ensure your label meets all regulatory standards.
Registering Other Air Care Products and Ambient Deodorisers with the Poison Centre
Other air care products and ambient deodorisers that are not already covered by specific regulations still require a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) to ensure the safety of consumers and emergency responders. These products include various types of air fresheners and deodorisers that serve to eliminate or mask odors, which could contain chemicals that pose health risks. The PCN process ensures that these products are properly evaluated, classified, and labeled to provide necessary safety information in case of an accident or exposure.
What is a UFI?
A UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) is a unique code that is assigned to a specific product formulation. For other air care products, the UFI helps identify the precise mixture of chemicals in the product, facilitating emergency response teams in quickly understanding the composition of the product in case of an incident. It allows for efficient and accurate risk management in emergency situations.
What is a PCN?
A PCN (Poison Centre Notification) is a mandatory report that companies must submit to the Poison Centre for hazardous products. It includes detailed information about the product’s chemical composition, potential hazards, and appropriate first-aid measures. This helps emergency responders access critical safety data when managing incidents involving air care products or deodorisers.
What is CLP?
CLP (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging) is a regulation that requires products to be classified according to their health and environmental risks. For air care products, CLP ensures that any hazardous ingredients are clearly labeled with appropriate hazard symbols, precautionary statements, and safety instructions. This labeling ensures both consumers and professionals can handle the product safely and respond effectively in case of accidents.
What is the Poison Centre?
The Poison Centre is an official body that maintains a centralized database of safety information for hazardous products sold in the EU. It is used by emergency responders, medical professionals, and regulatory authorities to access product-specific data in case of an emergency. The Poison Centre ensures that this information is available and accessible to help mitigate risks associated with products like air care items and ambient deodorisers.
Why is This Needed?
Submitting a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) for air care products and ambient deodorisers that are not specifically covered under existing regulations is crucial to ensure that safety information is readily available in case of an emergency. Many air care products contain chemicals that could cause harm if mishandled or ingested. By registering these products with the Poison Centre, companies ensure that emergency responders have quick access to important data that helps manage potential risks.
Since When is This by Law Obligatory?
Since January 1, 2021, it has been mandatory for manufacturers and importers of hazardous products, including certain air care products and ambient deodorisers, to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) under the EU regulation. This requirement is in place to improve safety standards and emergency preparedness for hazardous substances in everyday consumer products.
FAQ
Question: Do other air care products need to be registered with the Poison Centre?
Answer: Yes, all air care products and ambient deodorisers, including those not specifically covered by existing regulations, must be registered with the Poison Centre if they contain hazardous chemicals. This ensures that emergency responders have immediate access to necessary safety information in case of an accident or exposure.
Question: What is the purpose of a UFI for air care products?
Answer: The UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) is used to uniquely identify the chemical composition of an air care product. This helps emergency responders quickly access critical safety data about the product in the event of exposure or an accident, allowing them to manage the situation efficiently and effectively.
Question: Why is submitting a PCN for air care products important?
Answer: Submitting a PCN ensures that detailed safety information about the product’s hazards, chemical composition, and first-aid measures is available to emergency responders. This is critical for managing potential health risks associated with exposure to hazardous chemicals in air care products.
Question: How does CLP apply to air care products?
Answer: Under the CLP regulation, air care products that contain hazardous substances must be labeled with appropriate hazard symbols and precautionary statements. This ensures that consumers and emergency responders can easily identify the risks and take the necessary precautions to handle the product safely.
Question: When did it become mandatory to submit a PCN for air care products?
Answer: The requirement to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) for air care products and other similar consumer products became mandatory on January 1, 2021. This regulation is part of the EU’s ongoing efforts to improve consumer safety and provide better emergency response capabilities in the case of hazardous product exposure.
Question: How long does it take to submit the UFI and PCN notification?
It takes us a few days’ work. As soon as you upload the documentation, we will get started right away.
Question: Am I the owner of the PCN notification?
Yes, you are the owner of the PCN notification. You retain full ownership of the data you provided. The PCN notification will be accessible in your ECHA account.
Question: Is this service for one product or more?
The service is for one product.
Question: Why do I have to pay to create a UFI?
The service we offer is not just about providing a UFI. The UFI is a component within a much more extensive process. The core service we provide is the preparation and submission of your Poison Centre Notification (PCN) to national appointed bodies through ECHA portal, which is a mandatory requirement under the EU CLP Regulation for placing hazardous mixtures on the market. Generating a UFI is simplest part. The PCN report, however, is complex. It demands detailed ingredient review—chemical classifications—formatted precisely for Poison Centre submission via ECHA.
Question: My company is not based in the EU, how can I submit a PCN?
We provide a solution for companies which are not based in the EU. You can find more information on the PCN & UFI for non-EU companies page.
Question: Can you provide Safety Data Sheets in full compliance with EU Regulation (REACH & CLP)?
Yes, we can create Safety Data Sheets (SDS)— also known as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)— tailored to your product and compliant with the latest EU regulations. Whether you are manufacturing chemical mixtures, importing products into the EU, or distributing under a private label, a compliant SDS is legally required and essential for safe use throughout the supply chain. You will find more on the Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) Creation Service page.
