CLP Label Information
We offer the option to purchase a CLP compliant product label, containing all mandatory information as required by the EU CLP Regulation. This will be provided as a PDF. This is not a design, but a summery of the required information. This will enable you to integrate the necessary information into your product label design. You can also order the CLP label creation separately. Already have a label? — We can do a CLP label compliance check of your label in accordance with current CLP requirements. We will provide detailed feedback and corrections to ensure your label meets all regulatory standards.
Registering Other Adhesives and Sealants
Other adhesives and sealants not already covered under specific categories require Poison Centre Notification (PCN) to ensure they meet EU regulations for safety and hazardous chemical handling. This includes products used in various industries, applications, and materials that do not fall under predefined categories like household or industrial adhesives, but still pose potential hazards during usage or exposure. Submitting a PCN guarantees compliance with EU regulations and ensures that safety data is readily available in emergency situations, thereby protecting users and responders.
What is a UFI?
A UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) is a unique code that identifies a specific chemical mixture. The UFI is used to track and identify hazardous chemical products, including adhesives and sealants, to ensure quick and accurate identification in case of an emergency. For products like other adhesives and sealants, the UFI is crucial for ensuring that emergency responders can access the right information in the event of accidental exposure.
What is a PCN?
A PCN (Poison Centre Notification) is a mandatory report submitted to the EU Poison Centre for hazardous chemical products. For adhesives and sealants, this involves providing detailed information about the product’s chemical composition, safety measures, hazard classification, emergency contact information, and more. The PCN ensures that product information is accessible to emergency responders in case of exposure, helping them react quickly and appropriately to potential incidents.
What is CLP?
CLP (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging) is an EU regulation that dictates how hazardous chemicals, including adhesives and sealants, must be classified and labeled. Under CLP, manufacturers are required to assign hazard categories to their products, mark packaging with appropriate safety symbols, and provide instructions for safe handling and emergency responses. Compliance with CLP ensures that users are informed about the risks associated with using a product and are able to handle it safely.
What is the EU Poison Centre?
The EU Poison Centre is a centralized database and resource for safety information regarding hazardous chemicals in the European Union. By registering products with the Poison Centre, manufacturers and importers ensure that detailed safety information is accessible to emergency responders, healthcare providers, and other relevant authorities. This is particularly important for products like adhesives and sealants, which may pose risks during accidental exposure.
Why is This Needed?
For adhesives and sealants that are not specifically categorized, submitting a PCN is essential for ensuring that all potential hazards are documented and available to those who may encounter the product in the event of an emergency. The PCN ensures that the necessary safety data is on hand for proper handling, exposure management, and first aid, as well as helping manufacturers comply with legal requirements for product registration and safety communication.
Since When is It by Law Obligatory?
The requirement to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) for hazardous chemical products, including other adhesives and sealants, became mandatory under the EU’s CLP regulation starting January 1, 2021. All manufacturers and importers of hazardous chemical products must submit a PCN to the EU Poison Centre before the products can be marketed or sold in the European Union.
FAQ
Question: What is a UFI, and why is it necessary for my adhesive product?
Answer: A UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) is a unique code that helps identify the specific chemical mixture in your adhesive product. It is necessary because it enables emergency responders to quickly access critical safety information in case of exposure or accidents. The UFI is required as part of the Poison Centre Notification (PCN) to comply with EU safety regulations.
Question: What is the process of submitting a PCN for other adhesives and sealants?
Answer: Submitting a PCN for adhesives and sealants involves providing detailed safety information to the EU Poison Centre, including the chemical composition, hazard classification, safety precautions, and emergency contact details. This ensures that emergency responders have access to the correct information in case of exposure to the product.
Question: How does CLP impact my adhesive product?
Answer: CLP (Classification, Labelling, and Packaging) requires that your adhesive product is classified according to its hazards, labeled with appropriate safety symbols, and packaged with clear instructions on safe handling and emergency measures. CLP ensures that users are informed of the risks and can handle the product safely.
Question: Why must I register my adhesive product with the EU Poison Centre?
Answer: Registering your adhesive product with the EU Poison Centre ensures that safety information is available to emergency responders, healthcare professionals, and relevant authorities in case of exposure or accidents. The registration is required by law to protect both users and first responders and to comply with EU chemical safety regulations.
Question: When did it become mandatory to submit a PCN for adhesives and sealants?
Answer: The requirement to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) for hazardous chemical products, including adhesives and sealants, became mandatory on January 1, 2021, as part of the EU’s CLP regulation. All manufacturers and importers must ensure that their products are registered before they can be marketed or sold in the EU.

The service is for one product.
Question: Why do I have to pay to create a UFI?
The service we offer is not just about providing a UFI. The UFI is a component within a much more extensive process. The core service we provide is the preparation and submission of your Poison Centre Notification (PCN) to national appointed bodies through ECHA portal, which is a mandatory requirement under the EU CLP Regulation for placing hazardous mixtures on the market. Generating a UFI is simplest part. The PCN report, however, is complex. It demands detailed ingredient review—chemical classifications—formatted precisely for Poison Centre submission via ECHA.
Question: My company is not based in the EU, how can I submit a PCN?
We provide a solution for companies which are not based in the EU. You can find more information on the PCN & UFI for non-EU companies page.
Question: Can you provide Safety Data Sheets in full compliance with EU Regulation (REACH & CLP)?
Yes, we can create Safety Data Sheets (SDS)— also known as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)— tailored to your product and compliant with the latest EU regulations. Whether you are manufacturing chemical mixtures, importing products into the EU, or distributing under a private label, a compliant SDS is legally required and essential for safe use throughout the supply chain. You will find more on the Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) Creation Service page.
