How does the UFI creation and PCN notification service work?
After purchasing this service, you will receive access to the secure portal. This portal contains an overview of all steps. You fill in your product details and we will get to work.
Poison Center Notification & UFI
We will provide:
- Your product’s Unique Formula Identifier (UFI)
- A Poison Centre Notification (PCN) report
- Registration of your product with the relevant national Poison Centres via ECHA.
Countries for PCN registration
You can count the number of countries in which you want to register your product. This is the number of countries you need to purchase. You will be able to select the specific countries within the portal. If you plan to expand the sales of your products to new countries at a later date, then you can always order additional PCN country registrations.
The EU has 27 countries and the EEA has 30 (EU+Lichtenstein, Norway and Iceland) In the portal you can select these countries:
Belgium | (BE) | Spain | (ES) | Hungary | (HU) | Slovakia | (SK) |
Bulgaria | (BG) | France | (FR) | Malta | (MT) | Finland | (FI) |
Czechia | (CZ) | Croatia | (HR) | Netherlands | (NL) | Sweden | (SE) |

*For Switzerland we can create the PCN dossier, with all the needed information to make a submission in the Swiss portal. Contact us for more information.
CLP Label Information
We offer the option to purchase a CLP compliant product label, containing all mandatory information as required by the EU CLP Regulation. This will be provided as a PDF. This is not a design, but a summery of the required information. This will enable you to integrate the necessary information into your product label design. You can also order the CLP label creation separately. Already have a label? — We can do a CLP label compliance check of your label in accordance with current CLP requirements. We will provide detailed feedback and corrections to ensure your label meets all regulatory standards.
Poison Centre Notification for All-Purpose Non-Abrasive Cleaners
All-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, including degreasing agents, must comply with Poison Centre Notification (PCN) requirements. These products, which are commonly used for cleaning various surfaces, contain chemicals that may pose risks to human health if not handled properly. By submitting a PCN, manufacturers ensure that emergency responders have access to critical safety information in the event of accidental exposure or emergencies involving these cleaning agents.
What is a UFI?
A Unique Formula Identifier (UFI) is a unique code that provides detailed information about a product’s chemical composition. For all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, the UFI enables emergency responders to quickly identify the specific formulation and assist with exposure management. This identifier helps streamline emergency responses, ensuring the proper safety measures are taken.
What is a PCN?
A Poison Centre Notification (PCN) is a report submitted to the Poison Centre that contains essential safety data about hazardous products. For all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, this report includes information such as the product’s chemical makeup, potential health hazards, and emergency treatment protocols. The PCN helps ensure that emergency responders can act swiftly in case of accidental exposure, reducing potential health risks.
What is CLP?
CLP stands for Classification, Labelling, and Packaging, a European regulation that classifies products based on their hazards, labels them with appropriate hazard symbols, and ensures that safety instructions are clearly communicated. For all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, CLP ensures that users are informed of any potential health risks, such as irritation or toxicity, and are provided with the necessary precautions when handling these products.
What is the Poison Centre?
The Poison Centre is a central organization responsible for managing notifications of hazardous products within the European Union. It serves as a resource for emergency responders, providing them with immediate access to product safety data, including chemical composition and treatment recommendations. By registering all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners with the Poison Centre, manufacturers help facilitate rapid, informed emergency responses to potential exposures.
Why is This Needed?
The submission of a PCN for all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners is essential to ensure that emergency responders can quickly access accurate safety information in the event of an accident or exposure. This helps prevent or reduce the severity of health risks and ensures that the appropriate measures are taken to protect the individuals involved. Without a PCN, emergency responders may not have all the critical information needed to manage exposure safely.
Since When is This by Law Obligatory?
Since January 1, 2021, it has been mandatory under EU regulations for manufacturers of hazardous cleaning products, including all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN). This requirement aims to enhance public safety and improve emergency response efforts by ensuring that essential safety data is available to healthcare professionals and emergency responders.
FAQ
Question: Do all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners need to be registered with the Poison Centre?
Answer: Yes, all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, including degreasing agents, must be registered with the Poison Centre to ensure emergency responders can access important safety information in case of an exposure or accident.
Question: What is the UFI for all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners?
Answer: The UFI (Unique Formula Identifier) is a code that identifies the specific chemical formula of a product. For all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners, the UFI helps emergency responders quickly determine the composition of the product and respond appropriately to any exposure.
Question: Why is a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) required for these cleaners?
Answer: A PCN is required for all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners to ensure that emergency responders have immediate access to critical safety information. This allows them to manage potential exposures effectively and provide accurate treatment in the event of an emergency.
Question: What is the role of CLP in the registration of cleaning products?
Answer: The CLP regulation ensures that all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners are properly classified and labeled according to their hazardous properties. This provides clear warnings and safety instructions for users, helping to prevent accidents and exposures.
Question: When did the requirement for submitting a PCN for cleaning products come into effect?
Answer: The requirement to submit a Poison Centre Notification (PCN) for all-purpose non-abrasive cleaners became law on January 1, 2021, as part of the EU’s commitment to improve safety and emergency response measures for hazardous products.
Question: How long does it take to submit the UFI and PCN notification?
It takes us a few days’ work. As soon as you upload the documentation, we will get started right away.
Question: Am I the owner of the PCN notification?
Yes, you are the owner of the PCN notification. You retain full ownership of the data you provided. The PCN notification will be accessible in your ECHA account.
Question: Is this service for one product or more?
The service is for one product.
Question: Why do I have to pay to create a UFI?
The service we offer is not just about providing a UFI. The UFI is a component within a much more extensive process. The core service we provide is the preparation and submission of your Poison Centre Notification (PCN) to national appointed bodies through ECHA portal, which is a mandatory requirement under the EU CLP Regulation for placing hazardous mixtures on the market. Generating a UFI is simplest part. The PCN report, however, is complex. It demands detailed ingredient review—chemical classifications—formatted precisely for Poison Centre submission via ECHA.
Question: My company is not based in the EU, how can I submit a PCN?
We provide a solution for companies which are not based in the EU. You can find more information on the PCN & UFI for non-EU companies page.
Question: Can you provide Safety Data Sheets in full compliance with EU Regulation (REACH & CLP)?
Yes, we can create Safety Data Sheets (SDS)— also known as Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)— tailored to your product and compliant with the latest EU regulations. Whether you are manufacturing chemical mixtures, importing products into the EU, or distributing under a private label, a compliant SDS is legally required and essential for safe use throughout the supply chain. You will find more on the Safety Data Sheet (MSDS/SDS) Creation Service page.
